Steak And Shrimp (Gluten Free, Paleo)

September 8, 2016 By Laura

steak and shrimp

Steak and shrimp is a popular entrée in most steak restaurants.  I splurged the other day and we had steak on the grill smothered in garlic shrimp sauce.

You want to sear the steaks for 2 minutes on each side, then grill for about 20 minutes on low depending on the thickness.  Searing them seals in the juices and helps keep them from drying out.  While the steaks are grilling sauté the shrimp in olive oil.  Then add the garlic, spices, and broth and cook for another few minutes.

Place steaks on platter, spoon garlic shrimp sauce over them and serve with a baked potato and salad.

Author: Thyme and Tarragon
Recipe type: Main
Ingredients
  • 2.5-3 pounds NY Strip Steak
  • 1 teaspoon each sea salt and pepper
  • Shrimp tapas:
  • 1 pound shrimp
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 8-10 garlic cloves - about 1 and ½ tablespoons crushed or minced
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
Instructions
  1. Mix sea salt and pepper together then cover one side of steaks with the salt/pepper mixture. Let the steaks sit out until they are room temperature before grilling.
  2. Heat grill on high. Sear the steaks for 2 minutes on each side, then grill for about 20 minutes on low depending on the thickness. Searing them locks in the juices and helps keep them from drying out.
  3. Sauté shrimp in olive oil until they start turning pink, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add crushed or minced garlic. red pepper flakes, paprika, and lemon juice and cook until shrimp turns opaque about another two minutes. The time will depend on what size the shrimp are. Do not overcook or the shrimp will become rubbery.
  5. Add the fresh chopped parsley, spoon over steaks and serve.
  6. Goes well with baked potato and salad.
